Marc Jacobs Bang, is the first mens fragrance that the New York Fashion designer has released since Marc Jacobs For Men, 2002. Jacobs studied at Parsons School of Fashion in New York and in 1986 he launched his first collection. Since 1997, Jacobs has been the Creative Director for Louis Vuitton and is a contender to replace John Galliano at Dior.

Marc Jacob Bang, is a masculine spicy peppery, woody scent. It explodes with a ‘menage et trois’ of black, pink and white peppercorns, that is lightly embraced with vetiver. The warm sensual wood notes are soon released and then dry to a comforting talc base of white moss and patchouli. The scent was developed by Coty and created by perfumer Yann Vasnier. Vasnier has also developed Marc Jacobs Lola, Oh Lola, and several of Marc Jacobs Splash fragrances.

The impressive, futuristic and starkly original bottle designed by Harry Allen for Marc Jacobs Bang is a smoky black mufti-faceted glass bottle. While the brief for the bottle design was nearly 60 pages long, the request was simple, Coty and Marc Jacobs both wanted an iconic bottle. The bottle is coated on the front and back facades with  highly reflective aluminum. The metallic lustre provides a powerful statement that highlights the angles of the design and enables the angles to interact with each other. The Marc Jacobs Bang logo is stamped predominantly into the bottle for effective branding. The bottle is made from recyclable materials. Deservedly so, Marc Jacobs Bang was the winner of the Fragrance Foundation’s FiFi Awards for Men’s Luxe Best Packaging, 2011.

Jacobs decided on the fragrance name Bang, because he liked its connotations including its sexual reference. In Tom Ford style, Jacobs posed nude on a silver Mylar bed  with an over-sized Marc Jacobs Bang bottle strategically placed, for the ad campaign. It is the first time that Jacobs has appeared in his own advertising campaign, although he has appeared nude for the 2008 Skin Cancer Awareness campaign. Marc Jacobs Bang was photographed by Juergen Teller under the art direction of Peter Miles.
